Blaine Bridge Community Preservation Project

                                       June, 2003

Dear Friends,

I hope this finds you well.  Your support has kept this Bridge project VERY well !!!

We are entering a very active phase of the Project and would like for you to consider adding our events to your calendar, in the hope you may be able to participate in any (or all!) of them.  They all connect with Ohio’s Bicentennial celebrations and highlight the contributions of Eastern Ohio to our state’s development.  The events are:

JUNE 21 (Sat.) The Bicentennial Wagon Train stops in Blaine for lunch at the     1828 Bridge site and the Pleasant Valley Presbyterian Church.  This is open the public, including lunch, sightseeing, and visiting.

JUNE 28 (Sat.) The 2nd Homecoming Festival, noon-5:00pm, at the 1828 Bridge   and along Historic National Road in Blaine.  There will be a parade, exhibits, brief program, and festival activities.  Bobby Douglas is scheduled to be there.  (Details about additional guests and specific events will follow at a later date).  This day also coincides with the Bridgeport High School Alumni and the Bridgeport Revitalization.

                         Project events during that weekend.

JULY 9 (Wed.)   Dedication of the Ohio Historical Marker, 6:00-8:00pm, 1828 Bridge Site (ceremony at 6:30 pm).Ice cream social and entertainment.

The committees are at work planning these events.  If you have any ideas or would like to help, please know that would be much appreciated.  Contact me using e-mail, or write to PO Box 95, Blaine, OH 43909.

We are “getting by” with MORE than a little help from our friends….it is great having you among them.  You ARE the energy that keeps this project going…the power which will see it to its successful completion.  THANK YOU for your participation !!!

In appreciation and with gratitude,

Sue Douglass
